NDNU Welcomes John M. Veitch Ph.D., CFA, as Dean for the School of Business and Management
Veitch brings over 35 years of academic leadership experience in higher education
BELMONT, CA. (February 27, 2023) – Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) Provost and Senior Vice President Dr. Greg White announced the appointment of John M. Veitch Ph.D., CFA, as Dean for the School of Business and Management.
Dr. Veitch brings over 35 years of experience in higher education as a faculty member, department chair, and associate dean at the University of San Francisco. Most recently, John was Head of Planning for Learning Experience, Assessment, and Development at the CFA Institute, where he led the transformation of the global distance learning certification program. As Associate Dean of the School of Management (SOM) at the University of San Francisco, he oversaw their graduate programs and developed the MS in Data Science degree, which is nationally ranked as a top 5 “Big Data” degree program. He was also the founder and Program Director of USF’s internationally known MS in Financial Analysis (MSFA) degree program.
Prior to his work at USF, Dr. Veitch was a faculty member at the University of Southern California. He has also taught at the UC Berkeley Haas Business School, the joint UC Berkeley/Columbia MBA program, and the EMBA program at UC Irvine. At USF, he was a three-time winner of the EMBA Teaching Award.
“We are very fortunate to have John join NDNU as Dean for the School of Business and Management”, said White. “His many years of academic experience in higher learning and ability to establish industry partnerships that provide hands-on practicums for students will greatly enhance NDNU’s innovative approach to learning.” White added, “I also want to thank Dr. James Fogal, who served as Interim SBM Dean over the past two years. James was instrumental in rebuilding NDNU’s business programs, both for graduate and undergraduate degrees, and led the development of our new STEM-designated MS Technology Management and MBA Management Science degree programs.”

Dr. Veitch is trained as a macroeconomist specializing in money and banking. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Northwestern University and his BA in Economics from the University of Toronto’s Trinity College. He also holds a CFA designation from the CFA Institute.
