Belmont, Calif (July 12, 2021) – The School of Education and Psychology at Notre Dame de Namur University is pleased to announce its second Summer Speakers Series event, “Isolation and the Pandemic: Its Impact on Adolescents and College Students,” presented by NDNU graduate Joe Gutierez ‘18, MS, MBA, CATC IV, AMFT. The free seminar is Wednesday, July 14, 2021, from 7:00 – 8:00 pm via Zoom.
Mr. Gutierez will outline the effects that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on students and schools, and he will recommend support services and resources for both parents and teachers. He works as a Therapist at One Life Counseling in San Carlos and the Emergency and Psychiatric Emergency Services Departments at The San Mateo Medical Center.
“As we work our way out of the immediate dangers of the pandemic, it’s time to take stock of the mental health impacts COVID-19 has had on young people. Mr. Gutierez’s presentation is a wonderful opportunity to hear from a mental health professional leading the way in this important area of mental health care,” said Dr. Helen Marlo, Chair of the Clinical Psychology Department at NDNU.
This event is second in a series of three free seminars focused on the impact of the pandemic on our community sponsored by the NDNU Department of Clinical Psychology. The final session will be August 4, 2021, where Dr. Teresa Buccheri, Associate Professor in the NDNU Department of Clinical Psychology, will present a session on the pandemic’s effect on women.
