Notre Dame de Namur University Creates Transfer Pathways with Six Colleges
Agreements with partner institutions include financial aid, transfer credits, and streamlined admissions
For Immediate Release (4/2/2020)
Belmont, Calif.—Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) announced on March 23 that the college is suspending admissions for summer and fall 2020, focusing limited resources on helping as many current students as possible to finish degrees at NDNU by spring 2021. For students who cannot graduate in that time frame, the university is working actively to create transfer pathways to other institutions.
So far, six California universities have agreed to accept all NDNU students in good standing, with offers that include generous financial aid awards, credit for all non-remedial courses taken, and streamlined admissions. The universities that have partnered to date to accept NDNU students are:
- Dominican University of California (San Rafael)
- Holy Names University (Oakland)
- Humphreys University (Stockton and Modesto)
- Menlo College (Atherton)
- Mount Saint Mary’s University (Los Angeles)
- Saint Mary’s College of California (Moraga)
“We’ve worked hard to ensure that all of our students in good academic standing who are eligible to graduate by spring 2021 have the option to finish their degrees at Notre Dame de Namur, or transfer to excellent universities in California,” said Dr. Greg White, NDNU vice president for academic affairs. “The benefits offered by these institutions will make our students’ transition as smooth and affordable as possible.”
Notre Dame de Namur is setting up Zoom conferences that begin today to facilitate the transfer process to the partner institutions. NDNU Admissions Office staff and academic advisors are also counseling all NDNU students to help them finish their degrees at NDNU by spring 2021 or transfer to other institutions.
Since Notre Dame is also canceling its intercollegiate athletics program at the end of spring semester 2020, NDNU coaches are working diligently to find alternative schools where athletes can compete. For seniors eligible to graduate from NDNU by spring 2021, their athletic scholarships will be honored even though they will not be involved in sports.
“It will take the efforts of everyone at Notre Dame de Namur University working together—faculty, staff, and academic advisors—to ensure that all students have a pathway to graduation, either by finishing at NDNU or transferring,” Dr. White added.
