For Immediate Release (1/9/2019)
Belmont, Calif.—The Fletcher Jones Foundation has awarded $250,000 in expendable scholarship funds to Notre Dame de Namur University to support low-income students entering in 2019.
“We are extremely grateful that the Fletcher Jones Foundation has expressed its faith in our university and our students with this generous grant,” said President Judith Maxwell Greig. “These scholarships will make the difference between being able to attend college and not enrolling for many promising students.”
The Fletcher Jones Foundation Expendable Scholarships will go to Notre Dame de Namur University students who come from families with low incomes, including many first-generation-to-college and underrepresented students. “These students are drawn to Notre Dame de Namur University because of the small classes, close mentoring, and strong community on our campuses,” said Provost Hernan Bucheli.
Notre Dame de Namur University is currently ranked the #1 private university in Northern California for promoting the social mobility of its students by CollegeNET. It is also ranked as one of the seven most diverse colleges in the United States by Best Value Schools. Of this year’s freshman cohort, 69% are the first in their families to attend college.
