Poet Carlos Robson to Speak at Notre Dame de Namur University Commencement on May 5, 2018
Internationally known spoken-word artist to deliver address

Belmont, Calif.—Spoken word poet and playwright Carlos Robson will deliver the address at Notre Dame de Namur University’s commencement on May 5, 2018. Robson has competed in local, regional, national, and international competitions, winning the National Poetry Slam championship in 2007 and again in 2008 as a member of a North Carolina-based team. He has performed in all corners of the nation, on Broadway, and internationally.
“As our university celebrates the 150th anniversary of our charter, we’re looking back at our traditions with pride, and looking forward by inviting an innovative commencement speaker in Carlos Robson,” said President Judith Maxwell Greig. “Carlos Robson is not only a highly dynamic orator, his poems reflect the social justice values of our university’s Hallmarks.”
At this year’s commencement ceremony, NDNU will also be celebrating the initial graduates of the university’s new blended Liberal Studies program. The program allows students to earn a bachelor’s degree and a credential for teaching in elementary schools in just four years.
