Peterson brings decades of unique experience in higher education finance
BELMONT, CA. (February 14, 2022) – Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) President Dr. Lizbeth Martin announced the recent appointment of George Peterson, CPA, as Vice President for Finance and Administration. Peterson has held leadership positions in financial administration at a wide variety of institutions in the United States and abroad, including positions at universities in Nigeria, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Most recently, he served as Chief Financial Officer at Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey.
“NDNU has a rich history of providing quality academic programs to a diverse student body,” said Peterson. “I am excited to bring my experience and energy to help create a bright future for the university. I quickly realized that NDNU is a special place and its new emphasis on serving adult learners is really exciting.”
Peterson has extensive experience in planning, coordinating, and managing the strategic and daily operations of domestic and international non-profit and for-profit organizations. He is skilled in collaborating with all members of the organization to achieve business, financial, and information technology objectives. He has in-depth experience in driving change, improving and streamlining processes, and implementing technology solutions in organizations experiencing rapid growth or turn-around.
“As I continue to build out our administrative team, I look for talented people with a deep understanding of today’s higher education landscape as well as an appreciation for our mission,” Martin stated. “As we transform to a smaller primarily graduate and adult university, we are excited to welcome a leader with experience at universities in various stages of transition. It seems there is little in higher education finance that George hasn’t either seen or thought deeply about. He will be a great asset as we continue to chart a path toward a bright future
