Belmont, Calif.—The Art Therapy master’s degree program at Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) was named one of the top 15 in the United States in a recent ranking by the nonprofit topcounselingschools.org. The ranking comes as the NDNU Art Therapy program is celebrating its fortieth anniversary, and as the faculty has made cutting-edge contributions in their latest publications.
“It’s fitting that Top Counseling Schools has recognized our program on its fortieth anniversary,” said Professor Amy Backos, chair of Art Therapy at NDNU. “For four decades we’ve educated many of the leading practitioners and theorists in the field, and we’re continuing that tradition today.”
In just the last two years, NDNU faculty have published major contributions to art therapy, including Emerging Perspectives in Art Therapy: Trends, Movements and Developments, edited by Professor Backos and colleague Professor Richard Carolan; and Art Therapy with Older Adults by Dr. Erin Partridge.
In addition to the master’s program, one of the largest and most diverse in the country, Notre Dame de Namur University also offers one of the first PhD programs in Art Therapy in the United States. With an international reputation, the NDNU art therapy programs attract students from countries around the globe.
