Notre Dame de Namur University Builds Future around Clinical Psychology and Education Programs
Partnerships with other Bay Area institutions ensured the future of graduate programs
For Immediate Release (January 26, 2021)
Belmont, Calif. – Notre Dame de Namur University announced on January 25, 2021 that it will continue operations while transforming into a primarily graduate and online university, potentially with undergraduate degree completion programs.
NDNU is building its future around its graduate programs in Clinical Psychology and Education, including teaching credentials. NDNU welcomed over 40 new students into these programs for spring 2021 and continues to recruit students for summer and future semesters. NDNU hopes to relaunch graduate programs in business in fall 2021, including the MBA and MPA programs.
In June 2020 NDNU announced that it had formed partnerships with three Bay Area institutions to ensure the future of its graduate programs in Art Therapy, Clinical Psychology, and Education. At that time, NDNU resumed admissions for these programs with the knowledge that these partnerships would allow students to complete their degrees if NDNU was not able to continue operations beyond spring 2021.
We are grateful to Menlo College for their partnership which allowed NDNU to continue to recruit for Clinical Psychology. This partnership was the first ray of hope for a future for NDNU. We are similarly appreciative of Saint Mary’s College for their partnership which allowed NDNU to continue to recruit for master’s and credential programs in Education.
At the same time, NDNU has decided not to continue to offer programs in Art Therapy. Our master’s programs and doctoral programs in Art Therapy will move to Dominican University of California (San Rafael). Dominican is able to provide a stronger infrastructure, including facilities and related arts and psychology programs, that will best support this program to thrive and serve students.
We thank our institutional partners and our community for supporting NDNU through this challenging time of transformation and for assisting us in assuring continuance of these graduate programs, thereby preserving educational infrastructure that is important to the Peninsula and greater Bay Area.
