Belmont, Calif.—Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) was named a 2018–19 College of Distinction, honored for its “practices that are the most crucial for student development.” NDNU was also named a 2018–19 Business College of Distinction, and Catholic College of Distinction.
“We are pleased that Colleges of Distinction has chosen to recognize Notre Dame de Namur University for the quality of the student-centered learning that our campus offers,” said Dr. Hernan Bucheli, NDNU provost and senior vice president. “We are also honored that they have listed us among the Catholic universities and business programs that they have recognized this year.”
Among other factors, Colleges of Distinction based its selection on NDNU’s “modern, student-centered approach to teaching, first-year seminars, community-based learning programs, diversity and global learning programs, intensive writing courses, interdisciplinary programs, collaborative assignments and projects, common intellectual experiences, capstone projects, study abroad programs, and internships.”
Colleges of Distinction’s selection process includes a review of each institution’s freshman experience and retention efforts alongside its general education programs, alumni success, strategic plan, and student satisfaction. Schools are accepted for their adherence to four distinctions: Engaged Students, Great Teaching, Vibrant Community, and Successful Outcomes.
