“Chiarito is a highly dynamic painter,” says Wiegand Gallery Director Robert Poplack. “His art uses abstract imagery to convey visceral and emotional states of being, reflecting the human condition. Chiarito brings an exuberance to his work, constantly discovering fresh sources. This turning of the artistic soil allows him to evolve in ever-changing ways.”
Chiarito’s work has been exhibited in prestigious international venues, including the Ahknaton Gallery in Cairo, Egypt; and Casa de Cultura de Tlalpan in Mexico City. Closer to home, his work has been shown at the Triton Museum of Art and Stanford University. His honors include a grant from the Rydell Visual Arts Fund and an Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant for Artists. A charismatic teacher and professor emeritus at San Jose State University, Mr. Chiarito will be working directly with NDNU students as a Sister Catharine Julie Cunningham Visiting Scholar.
