Over the last two decades, video has increasingly become one of the most powerful tools in marketing and communications. It has allowed organizations to tell stories, spread awareness of their brands and connect with audiences in more meaningful ways than text or static images alone can.
That role is now changing, but not in a way that makes video any less important. In fact, it is only becoming more important and should no longer be considered just a nice add-on. It is becoming essential for any serious marketing and communications effort.
Throughout my career, and especially in my leadership role at Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU), I have seen this evolution firsthand. Video has become one of our most effective communications tools for connecting with prospective students, current students, alumni, faculty and community partners. From presidential announcements and commencement coverage to student success stories and program spotlights, video has helped us communicate our mission in a more authentic and engaging way.
